Gene Taylor told a reporter that in 2008, he voted for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), not President Obama, the latest example of an endangered Democrat distancing himself from party leaders. * Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) loaned his campaign another $500,000 last week as polls show him in a dead heat with Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck (R). Meanwhile, Illinois gubernatorial candidate Scott Lee Cohen (I) has loaned his campaign a total of $3.7 million to date. * A new Ward Research poll shows former Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D) taking 51 percent to Lt. Gov. Duke Aiona's (R) 43 percent in the Hawaii gubernatorial race. In the 1st District race, Rep. Charles Djou (R) is taking 48 percent to state Senate President Colleen Hanabusa's (D) 46 percent. * The National Republican Senatorial Committee has placed a $3 million TV ad buy in California this week, bringing its total spent on the race to nearly $8 million. Meanwhile, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is spending coordinated funds on the race. * A new survey by GOP pollster Wilson Research Strategies shows former Rep. With Michael Benoit, the father of the late professional wrestler Chris Benoit, now campaigning against former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon (R), the new survey will give further clues as to whether voters view McMahon's tenure at WWE as a liability or not.
