Humildemente, David Toledo, MA (973) 960-0413Passaic County Coalition for Immigrant Rights.

> Dear Friends and Leaders:Greetings. The Passaic County Coalition for Immigrant Rights congratulates to all participants to the Rally to Essex Detention Center on last Thursday, February 17, 2011. Thank you for your support and kindness on behalf of our undocumented brothers and sisters of New Jersey. The Passaic County Coalition for Immigrant Rights communicates to all its members and friends, that we have responded afirmatively to the invitation of our great immigrant rights advocate and friend, Greg Sullivan from Irate & First Friends; regarding to their need for Spanish speaking volunteers to visit at the Hudson County Jail in Kearny. Visiting is only 30 minutes but can take 30 minutes to get into the visitation room. Greg Sullivan will train volunteers in one hour, give them a training manual and will mentor them into the jail. Driving is good, only one mile from Exit 15E on the NJ Turnpike and safe, ample parking. The Passaic County Coalition for Immigrant Rights is against Comunity Secure Program in New Jersey and has already voiced its opposition to ICE's proposal to increased 2,750 beds in Immigration Detention Centers. These actions mean the beggining to massive persecution to our undocumented brothers and sisters on New Jersey and wil destroy more families and communities. The current goal of our Coalition is participate with a minimum of three Spanish speaker volunteers. On next Monday, I will start my first visit to immigrant detainees in Hudson County Correctional Jail. The detainees will really appreciate getting visitors and letters. Most of them, can not receive visitation because their families are lack of Identification. Please come with us. Sincerely, David Toledo, MA (973) 960-0413Passsaic County Coalition for Immigrant Rights. Note: the following is the invitation from Greg Sullivan (Irate & First Friends)

> Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under the Department of Homeland Security is holding more than 1,500 immigrant detainees in New Jersey . 80 % of the immigrants are being held in criminal jails. Between 60 and 70% have been resident in the United States for more than 6 years, most have families, homes and jobs and pay taxes. Many have citizen children and spouses. All are our neighbors who have been incarcerated and separated from their families because our country is unable resolve a pressing social problem by political means. Nationwide we detain 400,000 immigrants per year at a cost of nearly $2 billion while disrupting thousands of communities.

> First Friends is a charity providing compassionate service for detainees in the form of volunteer visitors, pen pals, stationery, phone cards and assistance upon release. We provide service at 2 New Jersey county jails and the Elizabeth Detention Center .
